Nikon M-223 Sights
Nikon know their markets and saw the rise in popularity of the AR .223 rifle with civilian purchasers in the United States. They knew that some owners wanted more range out of the platform than a red dot sight could provide. They also realised that most US shooters still think in yards and shoot 55 grain ammunition. Other great features US shooters wanted were ample and constant eye relief regardless of magnification and the choice of dialling-in or aim-off via reticle. They put these requirements together and came up with a range of dedicated .223 scopes in the M-223 series.
The 1-4X20 is a purpose-built three gun competition scope, built tough enough for tactical or hunting purposes. Every bit as quick as a reflex or red dot sight at 1X magnification, the Nikon M-223 1-4X20 has a purpose-designed ’Point Blank’ reticle ideal for ultra fast engagement within the ‘point blank’ range of the .223 cartridge. This sight’s combination of magnification, optical clarity, light transmission and a huge ocular lens, mean you can identify and hit targets at ranges impossible with a red dot sight. Nikon even designed their own, one-piece Picatinny Rail mount for these scopes.
The Nikon M-223 2-8X32 is their general purpose model and features the same return to zero feature as the other scopes in the range. You have the choice of the Bullet Drop Compensating model which gives you a range calibrated circle and hash reticle that is precise and quick to use. Alternatively, you can dial in with the Nikoplex reticle and Rapid Action Turret. This allows very smooth, repeatable dialing-in. The zoom on all of these scopes is very smooth.
The Nikon M-223 3-12X42SF is the long range option, getting the most out of the capabilities of the .223 55 grain polymer bullet that offers the best versatility and hunting/varminting capability. Bothe models feature side parallax focus to get the best possible accuracy. Parallax adjustment also enables you to zero at closer ranges with confidence, dialling out the error inherent within 100 yards.
